1. Windrift Hall — West Coxsackie, New York
Windrift Hall is a dreaaaaaaam. It is a restored 1795 Federal manor house tucked on 14 acres of hills, meadows, and a private pond in the Hudson Valley. Your transported to another time through the stone walls, a 250-year-old maple tree, and a home so lived-in and layered with art and antiques that it never feels staged. Something to note, this venue needs rentals. You are only getting a spectacular location at Windrift.
Why it’s whimsical: A working farmhouse-turned-manor with candlelit dinners, canoe rides, and a
wildflower field that looks hand-painted at sunset.

2. Hammond Castle — Gloucester, Massachusetts
An actual medieval-style castle on the rocky Gloucester coast, complete with towers, a courtyard pool, and a Great Hall with soaring stone arches. It was built in the 1920s to house one man’s collection of Renaissance artifacts, and it still feels like a place where a story is unfolding — moody, romantic, and a little theatrical in the best way ;)
Why it’s whimsical: Gothic archways framing ocean views. It’s the closest thing to a real-life fairy tale castle I could find on this coastline

3. Crane Estate (Castle Hill) — Ipswich, Massachusetts
Perched on a hill over the Atlantic, the Great House at Castle Hill is 59 rooms of early-20th-century total opulence, connected to the sea by a half-mile grand allée that might be the single best view in New England. This is the venue for couples who want sweeping, cinematic wide shots. A salt marsh on one side, barrier beach on the other, and a mansion that looks like it belongs in a period drama (I actually think it's been in a period drama!)

A 58-acre property in the Hudson Valley built around a 1940s barn and a series of European-inspired gardens that unfold one after another, like rooms in a secret garden. The whole property has a cottagecore, English-countryside energy, with a speakeasy-style bar tucked into the barn’s wing and long candlelit tables set under string lights.

5. Shepherd’s Run — South Kingstown, Rhode Island
A once-abandoned 1930s manor brought back to life as a VINEYARD (yes. vineyard.) estate near the Rhode Island shore, with a walled garden originally designed by pioneering landscape architect Beatrix Farrand. Vaulted ceilings, a circular staircase, and vineyard views make this one endlessly photogenic, whether you’re after old-world elegance or something a bit more relaxed and garden-party.
Why it’s whimsical: The walled garden in the spring is about as close to a storybook illustration as real life gets.
